On Belonging in Outdoor Spaces: A speaker series on access, inclusion, and connection in nature

Lincoln, MA

Six nature-focused organizations — deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Farrington Nature Linc, The Food Project, Lincoln Land Conservation Trust, Mass Audubon, and the Walden Woods Project — have come together to host a speaker series that elevates the voices of people of color working at the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the outdoors. “On Belonging in Outdoor Spaces” has hosted eight speakers since spring 2021: Akiima Price, Evelyn Rydz, Dr. Monica White, Dr. J. Drew Lanham, Rich Holschuh, Mardi Fuller, Dr. Scott Edwards, and Kareemah Batts. The series provided a critical educational opportunity for thousands of attendees to hear people of color share their stories of historical displacement from the land and the importance of access to the outdoors.
