Discover a new section of the Mass Central Rail Trail (MCRT) being developed in Clinton. This historic section of the MCRT was purchased by the Town of Clinton with a grant from MassTrails. We will be guided by Frannie Hodge who will talk about future plans for the trail and tunnel.
We will walk from Rauscher Farm parking area to the access trail through the farm to the rail trail and along the off-road trail. This portion of trail is surrounded by nature and wetlands. Animals that live along and use the trail include coyotes, foxes, rabbits, deer, beaver, and in the water you’ll see turtles, ducks, river otter and more. We’ll explore getting close to the 1,100 ft long tunnel, but the area is usually very wet.
This program is offered by the Clinton Greenway Conservation Trust as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature, Culture & History, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places, objects, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. Hidden Treasures programs are free and open to the public. Click to discover more Hidden Treasures!
