Did you know Concord Prison has a nearly 150-year history featuring experimental psychology, notable inmates, and distinctive architecture?

Join us on May 1 to learn about the prison’s origins in 1878, its evolution, community impact, and eventual closure in 2025. The story begins with Concord Reformatory and includes other facilities like Charlestown Jail and Rutland Prison Camp.

Come celebrate May Day, and have an opportunity to check out the 1,000 daffodils and hyacinths we planted last year at the Concord Prison Cemetery! Bring your chair and favorite picnic food to share; Ice cream truck will also be available!

DATE: Friday, May 1

TIME: 1 – 4 PM

LOCATION: Gerow Pavilion, 369 Commonwealth Avenue, Concord, MA 01742. Directly abutting the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail across from the Concord Prison. Parking is available.
