Learn about animal diets by examining replica skulls. SUMMARY:Stillwater Farm OPEN HOUSE and BIOBLITZ
DESCRIPTION:This historic farmhouse\, built in the 1790s\, features displays on the Wachusett Watershed\, local wildlife\, and the farm’s history. The area features a one-acre meadow and a one-mile forest hiking trail along the rocky hillside. Stop in to help survey habitats and identify plants and animals to contribute to a snapshot of the biodiversity in the area. Your participation will help us provide future educational opportunities. \nFocus areas with field staff are scheduled throughout the day. 10-11 a.m.: Native pants and community planting project. SUMMARY:Water Science at Stillwater Farm Interpretive Site
DESCRIPTION:Explore the wonders of water through fun interactive activity stations! Journey through the water cycle and collect beads to create your own unique bracelet. Discover a healthy freshwater stream through an accessible touch tank designed to allow observers to see freshwater macroinvertebrates move in a simulated river environment. Participants use tools such as petri dishes and plastic spoons to handle the macroinvertebrates. They can observe and identify the insects while discovering how they indicate water quality and support a healthy freshwater ecosystem. \nDrop in Saturday\, May 25th between 10 AM and 1 PM. All ages are welcome to this family-friendly event.
