DESCRIPTION:The older portion of the Shawsheen Cemetery\, founded in 1849\, is on the National Register of Historic Places and is an example of the Rural Cemetery Movement. A guided walking tour of this beautiful cemetery will relate its history and how it came to be a Bedford treasure. Sponsored by the Bedford Historic Preservation Commission. \nRegistration is not required but those who send an email message to hpc@bedfordma.gov at least a day in advance will receive a notification in the event of delay or cancellation. \nDATE: Saturday\, May 17th Saturday\, May 24th \nTIME: 2:00 – 3:00 PM \nLOCATION: Shawsheen Cemetery\, 1 Shawsheen Road\, Bedford\, MA 01730 \nPARKING: Park in the cemetery but please stay off the grass and do not block the roadway. \nACCESS: The walking tour will take place on paved surfaces. \n  \nThis program is offered by the Bedford Historic Preservation Commission as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area.
