SUMMARY:Op-Eds: Messages to America
DESCRIPTION:September 5 to 27\, 2026 \nExhibit hours: 11-5pm Tue-Sun \nReception: Sept 13 from 3pm-5pm \n \nWith incredible wit and poignancy\, four Boston area artists Merill Comeau\, Keith Francis\, Shea Justice and Adrienne Sloane\, hold the mirror up to our struggling and fractured democracy\, asking us to not look away\, and challenging us to live up to the founding ideals of our nation. \n \n“Art has always played a crucial role in the story of democracy\, as a voice of the people\, a tool of resistance\, and a mirror reflecting both hope and hardship. In times of oppression\, artists have dared to speak truth to power\, illuminating injustice and amplifying the struggles of everyday people. Art is a lifeline to democratic ideals\, keeping the balance of “rule by the people” alive and in check.” Rachel Rose Moore \nArtwork by Keith Francis- “The Invasion”

SUMMARY:Crown: A Celebration of Black Hair
DESCRIPTION:March 24-April 12\, 2026 \nExhibit hours: 11-5pm Tue-Sun \nReception: Mar 27 from 7pm-9pm \n \nCrown: A Celebration of Black Hair celebrates the beauty\, legacy\, and joy of Black hair. Crown will feature the works of three renowned photographers whose artistry highlights the depth and diversity of Black hair across generations\, cultures\, and styles. \n \nThe Artists featured in this exhibit: \n \n• Robert Sipho Bellinger: An esteemed educator\, historian\, and photographer\, Robert brings over 40 years of archival photographs that document the evolution and cultural significance of Black hair. His work offers a historical lens on the beauty and resilience of Black hair\, showcasing intimate portraits that reflect the pride\, struggles\, and triumphs of the Black community over decades. \n \n• Jordan Naheesi: A Brooklyn-born\, Los Angeles-based creative multihyphenate\, Jordan has built a remarkable career as a photographer\, videographer\, designer\, and curator. His photography journey began at Ohio University\, where his passion for storytelling through visuals flourished. With nearly a decade of experience\, Jordan has captured some of the most influential cultural figures\, including Erykah Badu\, Smokey Robinson\, and Kyrie Irving\, and has worked with global organizations like SiriusXM. His vibrant\, contemporary work celebrates the individuality and artistry of Black hair in modern culture. \n \n• Najee Brown: The Artistic Director of the Multicultural Arts Center\, Najee is a Boston-based photographer with 20 years of experience capturing life through his lens. Born and raised in Brooklyn\, Najee’s work is deeply rooted in storytelling\, blending authenticity and creativity to celebrate the beauty of Black culture. Through Crown\, Najee explores the joy\, love\, and creativity expressed through Black hair\, capturing its magic and its role in shaping the cultural fabric of the world. \n \nPhotographer Najee Brown shared his thoughts on the exhibition: \n \n“Black hair is a crown\, a symbol of beauty\, creativity\, and resilience. For centuries\, it has been a canvas for expression\, a source of pride\, and a target of misunderstanding. With Crown\, we reclaim that narrative\, focusing on the joy\, love\, and artistry that Black hair represents. This exhibit is a celebration of how Black people’s magic and culture continue to shape the world. It’s a love letter to our legacy and a testament to our power.” \n \nCrown is more than an exhibit—it is a celebration of identity\, heritage\, and creativity. Through photography\, storytelling\, and community engagement\, we invite audiences to experience the magic and cultural significance of Black hair

DESCRIPTION:HOME\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOctober 11- November 2\, 2025 11am-5pm Tue-Sun \n \nOpening Reception: Saturday\, October 12\, 4pm-6pm \nHousing Round Table: October 29 \nLexHAB ‘HOME’ Fundraiser: October 23 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nLexHAB\, an affordable housing organization\, and LexArt\, announce the 2nd biennial Home exhibition is meant to call attention to the issue of affordable housing and help raise funds to support LexHAB’s mission to provide and implement alternatives for the provision of affordable\, safe and housing for low and moderate income households \n \nHOME will focus on the theme of ‘home’ and the role of housing in our lives. Whether it is a physical place or an idea\, ‘home’ can mean something different at each stage of life and varies by culture and geography. Housing as shelter is a universal human need that is inaccessible for too many\, locally and globally. A shelter is a need\, a house can be a haven\, a nest can be empty\, a home can be inhabitable: climate change\, income inequality\, racism\, violence\, love\, community\, and family are just a few of the factors that impact our concept of home and our ability to attain and maintain a home. All submitted works of art share this perspective on the notion of ‘home’.

SUMMARY:i3C | REIMAGINING OUR WORLD
DESCRIPTION:Mar 23 – Apr 21\, 2024 11am-5pm Tue-Sun \nOpening Reception: Sun\, Mar 24\, 2024; 2 – 4 pm \nCuratorial Statement:  \nThe environmental crisis is multifactorial: consumerism\, pollution\, extreme weather\, loss of biodiversity\, and other catastrophes – too complex\, too intertwined\, but above all\, too urgent. A collective problem that requires collective solutions. As individuals\, we wonder\, “How can I contribute to the solution?” \nThe featured eco-minded artists\, members of i3C (inspiring Change for the Climate Crisis) Artists Group and Guests\, respond by working with rejected materials\, such as beach debris\, plastic waste\, or repurposed textiles. They dare to reinvent the life of waste\, transforming these society rejections into reminders of what we need to save.  \nJoin our conversation: change is not only possible but also a necessary and powerful element for critical environmental transformation.
