This 92 mile north-south hiking trail extends from the Rhode Island state border in Douglas State Forest, crossing the gentle hills of central Massachusetts, and eventually connecting to the <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/staging\/6553\/place\/wapack-trail\/\">Wapack Trail<\/a> at the New Hampshire state border in the Mount Watatic Reservation in <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/staging\/6553\/communities\/ashburnham\/\">Ashburnham<\/a>. The Midstate Trail is highly accessible, easy to hike, and the best way to enjoy the natural side of the region.<\/p>\n<p>Within the Freedom\u2019s Way National Heritage Area, the trail serves the communities of Ashburnham, <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/staging\/6553\/communities\/westminster\/\">Westminster<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/staging\/6553\/communities\/princeton\/\">Princeton<\/a>. Sites of interest along the trail in the Heritage Area include <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/staging\/6553\/place\/redemption-rock\/\">Redemption Rock<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/staging\/6553\/place\/wachusett-mountain-state-reservation\/\">Wachusett Mountain State Reservation<\/a>, and Mass Audubon\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/staging\/6553\/place\/wachusett-meadow-wildlife-sanctuary\/\">Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Midstate Trail Committee, under the auspices of the Worcester Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club, continues the administration and maintenance of the Trail.
