SUMMARY:Wonder of Wetlands
DESCRIPTION:Join Senior Wetland Scientist David Cowell on an adventure of discovery! Delight identifying the signature plants that call wetlands home. Appreciate the boundless natural wealth wetlands provide in their relatively unassuming way. Become aware of the fragility of wetlands and how you might step up and help. \nFirst\, though\, what are wetlands? \nWetlands are very special areas that link land and water. A wetland has water covering the soil; or water at or close to the surface of the soil. A wetland may be present year-round\, or it may be seasonal. Wetlands vary widely depending on several factors\, including geographical location and the specific location of a wetland on a piece of property. \nRauscher Farm’s wetlands are one of four delineated habitats on the 62-acre conservation land. Come visit. Wear waterproof footwear. Rauscher Farm’s wetlands are\, well\, wet! \n \nThis program is offered by the Town of Clinton’s Rauscher Farm Management Subcommittee and the Clinton Greenway Conservation Trust as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area.
