SUMMARY:Pepperell Veteran Flag Placement
DESCRIPTION:Help us remember our heroes by taking part in observing Memorial Day on May 28\, 2022 in Pepperell! The Prudence Wright Chapter House (DAR Building) will open its doors at 8:00 am for coffee\, hot chocolate\, and munchkins. The program will start at 9:00 am. \nAttendees can hear a presentation from Purple Heart recipient and Vietnam Veteran Tony Saboliauskas and listen to the exciting Prudence Wright Story (women who captured British spies!) from Wendy Cummings. The 6th Middlesex Regiment will also explain how muskets work\, and show attendees their Revolutionary War uniforms. \nNext is the Bunker Hill Memorial Bench to commemorate 8 KIA with flags and musket volley\, followed by patriotic wreath placement at the graves of  Col. William Prescott\, Rev. Joseph Emerson\, and Prudence Wright. Families\, including children\, will then be invited to place flags at veterans’ graves at the adjoining Walton and Pepperell Cemeteries. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees can park on the grass alongside the 1 Park Street gravel driveway\, or park inside Walton Cemetery at 5 Park Street for overflow. If necessary\, attendees can also park in the Town Hall parking lot at 1 Main Street. \n  \nThis program is offered by the Prudence Wright Chapter\, NSDAR and the Town of Pepperell as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. Hidden Treasures programs are free and open to the public. Click to discover more Hidden Treasures! \n
