SUMMARY:17th Annual Nashua International Sculpture Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the annual Nashua International Sculpture Symposium event! Each year the Symposium invites sculptors from around the world to stay in Nashua for 3 weeks. Each artist creates a large-scale public sculpture to be permanently installed in the city. \nThis year our visiting artists are from New Zealand/Benin\, UK/France\, South Korea\, and the US. The artists work outdoors rain or shine and the community is invited to come and watch them work. You may literally see these sculptures come to life! \nBeginning May 10th\, stop in daily (except Sundays) between 9 am and 6 pm. The event is free and open to the public and accessible to all! You may also pick up a map to take a tour of the 49 sculptures already displayed throughout the city of Nashua. \nJoin us for the opening reception on May 9th at 5:30 PM at the Picker Artists\, 3 Pine Street\, Nashua\, NH. \nMore information and special events related to the Symposium (Opening and Closing ceremonies\, children’s workshops\, etc.) may be found online at www.nashuasculpturesymposium.org. \n  \n  \nThis program is offered by the Nashua International Sculpture Symposium\, Nashua Arts Commission\, and NH State Council on the Arts as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. Artists are invited from around the world to spend three weeks in Nashua creating public art. Residents host the artists in their homes\, bring meals as they work\, provide transportation\, and interact with the artists as they create.\n \nThe Opening will be held May 11th at 5:30 PM and Closing Ceremony will be June 2nd at 1:00 PM. \n  \nThis program is offered by the Nashua International Sculpture Symposium as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area.
