SUMMARY:Historical Piano Concerts Spring Series
DESCRIPTION:The Historical Piano Concerts series is built on the Frederick Collection of Historical Grand Pianos by major makers in Vienna\, Paris and Leipzig\, ca. 1790-1928. The concerts’ 36th spring season will feature three solo piano programs\, and one concert each\, of piano with violin\, with tenor voice\, and with clarinet\, performed by nationally / internationally distinguished musicians. Each concert showcases one restored original piano in the Frederick Collection\, in music closely related to that piano’s time and place. \nSpring Series\nApril 24: Constantine Finehouse: Four sets of solo piano pieces by Brahms; Streicher piano\, Vienna\, 1871 \nMay 1: Ivan Gusev (program and piano to be chosen) \nMay 8: Stanley Wilson\, tenor with Hugh Keelan\, piano; Erard piano\, Paris\, 1893. Songs by Fauré\, Debussy and Nadia Boulanger\, piano solo works by Fauré. \nMay 15: Jerilyn Jorgensen\, violin with Cullan Bryant\, piano; Works by Schubert\, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Piano by Bösendorfer\, Vienna\, ca. 1830. \nMay 22: Thomas Pandolfi; Music by Chopin\, with a piece by Bach\, arranged by Leopold Godowsky\, and  a baroque organ piece arranged by Carl Tausig. If indoor gatherings are restricted or prohibited\, the musicians will still play their programs; we will make videos of all concerts\, with or without live audiences\, and post the videos on our YouTube channel\, Music from the Frederick Collection\, where\, with last fall’s concerts\, they can be enjoyed at no charge.
