Shirley April 19, 1775 Muster Roll Plaque

The Shirley Meeting House, Shirley, MA

Eighty men from Shirley, Massachusetts, answered the alarm from Lexington and Concord. A plaque placed beside The Shirley Meeting House door in 1900 lists the men of Captain Henry Haskell’s Company in Colonel James Prescott’s regiment who marched to Concord on April 19, 1775. According to “History of the Town of Shirley” (c.1883), the town’s response was so enthusiastic that all but seven men, who were old or sick, turned out.
