Woburn’s Second Burial Ground

Montvale Avenue, Woburn, MA

Woburn’s Second Burial Ground was established by the First Parish in 1794 and sold to the town in 1824 for $162.50. In July of 1847, Town Clerk Nathan Wyman and Dr. Benjamin Cutter took a thorough inventory of the cemetery, copying down the inscriptions of nearly 400 interments.

A memorial plaque at the front of the cemetery honors 56 Patriots from Woburn who served in the American Revolution from 1775-1783. Ten Patriots known to be buried here include:

Thaddeus Davis • John Eames III • John Fowle • Elijah Leath/Leathe • Josiah Parker • Abel Richardson • Bartholomew Richardson • Jeduthan Richardson • Abijah Thompson

This list was compiled from the SAR Patriot Research System. While our own research has identified discrepancies between various resources, we welcome your feedback should you notice something that should be revised.
