At the self-serve Scooter’s Farm of Woodmont, guests can pick their own fruits and flowers including peaches, table grapes, apples, and sunflowers. This certified organic farm rests on a scenic perch atop Woodmont Drive in Hollis, New Hampshire.
While the farm dates back to the 1970s, the current owner, Mike Madden, took over the orchard in 2015. Scooter’s Farm is dedicated to using all-natural non-synthetic fertilizer and pest control methods. They use inputs such as fish oil and seaweed. Recently, they added bee boxes and began intercropping wildflowers with apples. This trial through The Xerces Society, the National Resource and Conservation Society, and the University of New Hampshire aims to attract pollinators and beneficial insects.
