Scimone’s Farm Stand

505 Old Bedford Rd, Concord, MA

Frank Scimone, for whom Scimone’s Farm Stand is named, was an Italian immigrant who first began farming in Concord in 1923. He and his wife Grace Josephine Scimone established their farm along a row of Concord farmstands and began selling corn, tomatoes, beans, summer squash, zucchini, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, salad greens, asparagus, and scallions. The Scimones developed an egg route around Arlington, Belmont, Lexington, Cambridge, and Boston, selling the eggs of their 2,000 laying Rhode Island Reds. They also raised cows, pigs, goats, and chickens. Prior to Frank Scimone’s death in 1960, he built a greenhouse and began raising flowers.

The couple had four children: Domenica, Tony, Angelina, and Frank. All the children chipped in, but it was the younger Frank who ultimately took over the farm — he worked there for over 50 years beginning in 1960.

In the 2010s, Frank’s nieces Grace and Roseann Scimone began operating the 6-acre farm and farmstand. They retained the traditional offerings like berries, beans, corn, and zucchini, but added a wider array of fruits and vegetables. The farm stand also sells eggs, honey, homemade baked goods, cider, herbs, and flowers.
