Schartner Farm

211 West Berlin Rd, Bolton, MA

Schartner Farms was founded in 1912 when Julius Schartner emigrated from Austria to Bolton. What began as a dairy farm is now a destination for local fruits and vegetables, owned by the fourth generation of the Schartner Family.

In 2006, the Town of Bolton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts partnered to create an Agricultural Preservation Restriction on Schartner Farms, protecting it as agriculture in perpetuity. This allowed Julius’ great-grandson, Robert Schartner, and his family to continue the traditional way of life on the farm.

Visitors can experience the property by picking their own pumpkins or apples, enjoying a hay ride, or taking a walk on the surrounding Bolton Loop Trail. There is also a fall Corn “Maize” for ages 12 and up.
