Rota Spring Farm

117 Chace Hill Road, Sterling, MA

Rota Spring Farm is one of Sterling, Massachusetts’ top ice cream stands. It’s housed on more than 50 acres of lovely rolling agriculture, in a classic red barn with double-cupolas.

This dairy farm began in 1911 when Giovanni and Marcella Rota immigrated to Sterling from Italy. Their son Henry grew up working on the farm, and officially took over in 1948. Almost 40 years later, Henry passed the business to his son, David Rota.

David Rota initiated the ice cream stand and farm store that so many know and love today. The farm raises the fruits, vegetables, and grass-fed beef that it sells in its farm store. In addition, guests will also find baked goods, prepared foods, and gift items. Out back, a goat petting zoo gives visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with the farm life.
