Rocky Acres Farm

91 Chace Hill Rd, Sterling, MA

Rocky Acres Farm has been owned and operated by the Favreau family since 1938, when Wilfred Favreau purchased the property on the north side of the Wachusett Reservoir
from the Bosely family. Wilfred started a dairy farm, which he then passed to Lawrence Favreau. Lawrence began raising Black Angus Beef cows and tended the dairy herd while maintaining his day job as a dry cleaner.

Upon returning from active service in the U.S. army, Lawrence’s son, Lawrence R. Favreau, took over the farm. Lawrence R. expanded the herd to include Yorkshire-cross swine and Suffolk-cross sheep.

The farm officially became Rocky Acres Farm LLC in 2002. The Favreau family raises chickens, pigs, and cows, including over 60 Simmental Angus and Hereford Beef Cattle. Their land includes 80 acres in Sterling with an additional 100 acres off-site.

Rocky Acres sells their own meat by appointment at the Sterling farm stand. They also sell farm and landscaping materials, such as hay bales, compost, fieldstone, mulch, and loam.
