The model for the enchanting cottage in illustrator and author Elizabeth Orton Jones‘ classic 1948 children’s book Little Red Riding Hood, Pickity Place seems unchanged by time. Sited at the end of a winding dirt road in Mason, New Hampshire, the 1786 structure is a popular tourist destination attracting gardeners, food enthusiasts and those looking to the past for inspiration and relaxation.
Featuring a series of themed gardens (butterfly, silver, oregano, bird, healing, and moonlight), Pickity Place has an extensive kitchen garden that contains a diverse collection of herbs used to prepare the popular five course gourmet herbal luncheons for which it is known. There is also a greenhouse, garden, and herb shop that sell plants for your home garden.
