Lincoln’s Town Hill Cemetery is located on Old Lexington Road, at the site of the town’s meeting house. It was first established in 1756 and officially adopted by the town in 1773. Town Hill is one of three cemeteries in Lincoln known to be the final resting place of Revolutionary War soldiers. The nearby Arborvitae (also known as Three Cornered) Cemetery has at least two Patriots interred there, and the Lexington Road Cemetery (also referred to as Lincoln Cemetery) was the burial place for several British soldiers who were killed at the Battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775.
The known Patriots interred at Town Hill include:
Joseph Abbott • Bulkeley/Bulkley Adams • James Adams • Eleazer Brooks • Joshua Brooks • Timothy Brooks • John Hoar • Leonard Hoar • Elisha Wheeler Jr • Benjamin Winship
