When this plot of land by Bowers Brook was first farmed by the Doe family, O.C. Doe and his sons, Whit and Bill, named it Hawbuck Orchards. These 60 acres of land in Harvard, Massachusetts began as an apple orchard, but their offerings have expanded to include berries, peaches, Christmas trees, and more.
Hawbuck Orchards briefly changed ownership but was returned to the Doe family in 1978 and renamed. It is now in its second generation of family farming. Since the 1960s, it has been a local favorite for pick your own apples, but the farm stand also sells its own pumpkins, gourds, and cider. In 2011, Doe Orchards began raising bees for wax, honey, and pollination.
Wandering the grounds of Doe Orchards, visitors will also find a touch of the whimsical: historic tractors, whale-shaped rocks, and even a covered bridge.
