Resting on over 75 acres at the confluence of Elizabeth Brook and the Assabet River, Carver Hill Orchard has been farmed continuously by the Lord-Fletcher family for 150 years. The country store off of Gleasondale Road in Stow, Massachusetts is open seasonally from July-November.
The orchard was started by Chuck Lord’s great-grandfather in the 1820s. After Chuck Lord suffered a tractor incident in 2013, his son Matt Lord took over the farm. The Lords tapped The Stow Conservation Commission and Stow Conservation Trust to purchase the farm as a conservation restriction using community preservation funds.
The farm remains in production, selling produce, cider, cheese, and locally grown hormone free meats and eggs. They also offer treats like cider donuts and ice cream, pick your own fruits and vegetables, and seasonal decorations like pumpkins and Christmas trees.
