Breezy Hill Farm

Breezy Hill Farm rests on over 17 acres atop Ashburnham’s Lashua Road. From a roadside farmstand, they sell seasonal vegetables, compost, loam, lamb, pork, beef, and chicken. Recently, they launched a CSA and a line of dairy products including milk, yogurt, and ice cream.

The farm was founded by Gretchen Lafferty, who grew up on a dairy farm in nearby Westminster, Massachusetts. Originally, the Lafferty family only raised animals for show, but once sons Erick and Matthew joined the family business, the scope widened. The Laffertys now raise animals for both meat and dairy. Their herd includes Dorper and Romney sheep, Ayrshire and Simmental cows, and Berkshire pigs.

Erick obtained a degree in dairy herd management from Vermont Technical College and garnered several years of experience managing small herds in Vermont and New Hampshire. He eventually returned to the family farm and helped expand the dairy operation.

Visitors to the Lashua Road farmstand and CSA will often find the youngest members of the Lafferty family carrying on an agricultural tradition that dates back more than four generations.
