Bolton’s Old South Burying Ground

South Bolton Road, Bolton, MA

The Old South Burying Ground in Bolton was donated to the town by William Sawyer in 1739. Sawyer’s grave is the oldest in the cemetery, dating to 1741. The cemetery still hosts burials today, but the headstones within its stone walls include at least 44 Revolutionary War Patriots. (More Patriots are buried at the West Burying Ground). The Revolutionary Solider’s Memorial at the center of the cemetery consists of 44 neatly placed marble headstones marked with American flags.
