Old North Bridge Society, C.A.R.

Concord, MA

The Old North Bridge Society was the first society organized by the National Society of the Children of the American Revolution on May 11, 1895, and is based in Concord, Massachusetts. The mission of C.A.R. is to train good citizens, develop leaders, and promote love of the United States of America and its heritage among young people. This is accomplished by learning about history, leadership, and parliamentary procedure through annual contests and mustering around a yearly National Project.

Membership is open to any boy or girl aged from birth to their 22nd birthday who can prove lineage that they descend from a patriot of the American Revolution. Please email us at oldnorthbridge.nscar@gmail.com for membership inquiries.

The chapter was founded by Harriett Lothrop, a children’s book author and the founder of the National Society Children of the American Revolution. She wanted to instill patriotic values in the youth of America and she delivered an impassioned speech to the 1895 NSDAR Continental Congress. Her vision was well received and C.A.R. was officially founded on April 5, 1985. Her daughter Margaret was C.A.R. Member #1 and a member of the Old North Bridge Society.
