DESCRIPTION:Long before the beloved novel\, Little Women\, was written at a small crescent-shaped desk between two upstairs front windows at Orchard House in 1868\, history was being made here. \nSince the 1650s\, courageous\, empathetic\, forward-thinking individuals lived on this site\, caring for those in need and attempting to change society for the better. Guided tours within the evocative atmosphere of Orchard House will reveal fascinating facets of Alcott “pre-history\,” the enduring legacy of the talented\, progressive Alcott family\, and the impact generations of our stewards and visitors have had. We invite you to join us this year to honor the past\, share your own story\, and inspire the future! \nOrchard House is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM. \nAll visitors are encouraged to reserve Timed-Entry Admission to guarantee the date and timeslot of their choosing as our tours often sell out. DESCRIPTION:The artistic talent of [Abba] May Alcott (later Nieriker) is abundantly on display at Orchard House for visitors to appreciate each year — from her fledgling attempts to create within Orchard House itself\, to serious study in Boston\, and eventuating in diligent practice and notable exhibitions in Europe. In honor of the Concord Free Public Library’s Sesquicentennial\, Orchard House will highlight May Alcott’s presence in and influence on Orchard House\, as well as her greater artistic achievements\, through 15 October 2023. \nThe eclectic variety of May’s artwork typically on display will be enhanced by many rarely-seen items that reflect the boldly experimental style of this young\, energetic artist\, providing a truly visceral treat.
