DESCRIPTION:This guided walk is about 1 mile along the North Dike to the Wachusett Dam in Clinton. This open hillside walk along the Wachusett Reservoir offers interesting views overlooking the 65 billion gallon reservoir. Points of interest will feature the history of the construction of this water supply that provides drinking water for over 2.7 million people. \nOnce you reach the dam\, take some time to explore the area and return on your own. The walkway across the dam will be open for walking at 2:00 pm. \nDATE: Saturday\, May 9 \nTIME: 12:30 – 1:30 PM \nLOCATION: Meet at Wachusett Reservoir Gate 39 – located at the intersection of South Meadow Road and Route 110 in Clinton. (42°24’33.3″N 71°42’34.1″W) \nIMPORTANT NOTES: Overflow parking is available at Clinton High School. Dogs are not allowed on water supply protection lands. Heavy rain cancels. SUMMARY:Water Science at Stillwater Farm Interpretive Site
DESCRIPTION:Explore the wonders of water through fun interactive activity stations! Journey through the water cycle and collect beads to create your own unique bracelet. Discover a healthy freshwater stream through an accessible touch tank designed to allow observers to see freshwater macroinvertebrates move in a simulated river environment. Participants use tools such as petri dishes and plastic spoons to handle the macroinvertebrates. They can observe and identify the insects while discovering how they indicate water quality and support a healthy freshwater ecosystem. \nDrop in Saturday\, May 25th between 10 AM and 1 PM. All ages are welcome to this family-friendly event.
