SUMMARY:Riverwalk at the Nashua River
DESCRIPTION:These paths along the Nashua River in Clinton have been used by fishermen\, animals\, and kids for over a century. Last year\, walkers enjoyed watching wildlife including beavers\, birds\, garter snakes\, and other small wildlife. \nWear comfortable hiking boots or waterproof boots\, long pants to protect against ticks and poison ivy\, and layers according to the weather. Join us for a shorter loop or a longer loop along the beautiful Nashua River that runs through Clinton. Allow 1 to 2 hours for the walk. Clinton Greenway Conservation Trust will provide bug spray and light refreshments for after the walk. All are welcome. Difficult terrain for strollers (babes in backpacks work). \nTRAIL CONDITIONS: A portion of this walk is on a road accessible to vehicles including electric wheelchairs; however\, most of it is up and down\, sandy\, rocky\, wet\, or root-covered. It is woodsy conservation land and not well-traveled. There is a shorter loop that is less demanding for those with stamina issues or minor mobility issues. The longer loop has steep uphill and downhill terrain with trails that are not well-traveled. \nPhoto courtesy of Paul Dakai \n  \nThis program is offered by Clinton Greenway Conservation Trust as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. SUMMARY:Riverwalk 2023
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a trail walk along the beautiful Nashua River that flows out of Wachusett Reservoir and through the Town of Clinton\, Massachusetts. Enjoy flora and fauna along a trail forged by both animal and human walkers of all kinds. Animals spotted on previous walks include hawks\, herons\, turtles\, garter snakes\, deer\, and fox. You get a nice view of what Clintonians call “High Bridge” which is a railroad bridge we will cross under. \nDress for the season: it can be buggy and especially wear tick-proof long pants (slippery nylon works well\, while sweatpants are easy for ticks to cling to).  There is a shorter loop and a longer\, more difficult loop. Allow 1 to 2 hours for the walk. \nThis conservation area is owned by the Town of Clinton and the Commonwealth and is open to the public. If you miss the walk\, you can go any time. A rough trail map is available on our website at clintongreenway.org. \n  \nThis program is offered by the Clinton Greenway Conservation Trust as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. Hidden Treasures programs are free and open to the public. Click to discover more Hidden Treasures! \n  \n
