Begin your exploration in the Heritage Area of the life of Henry David Thoreau with a visit to Thoreau’s home town of Concord, Massachusetts! Many of the homes, buildings, and wild places that Thoreau was familiar with in his lifetime are still in existence.

But Thoreau Country is so much more than Concord! Many of the towns in the Heritage area have a connection to Thoreau including the buildings he lectured, the places he traveled through, and the natural wonders he explored.

As we continue to explore this theme we will continue to expand this collection of Thoreau sites throughout the Heritage area communities. Stay tuned!
