Traditions. Each season has them. Picking apples is our fall quintessential activity that never grows old. There is something magical and exhilarating to walk through an orchard, and choose your own apples, picking more than you can carry. Your head is full of choosing varieties—McIntosh, Cortland, Spartan, Honeycrisp, Baldwin, Macoun, Spencer, Empire, Winesap, Fortune, Jonathan—and what to make with them.
Apple orchards filled with apple trees laden with fruit are a sight to behold. Each orchard offers its own unique experience, with most having Pick Your Own (PYO) opportunities. Go early and other fruits like peaches, plums, nectarines or late season raspberries can be found; go later and pumpkins might be in the mix.
