The artistic talent of [Abba] May Alcott (later Nieriker) is abundantly on display at Orchard House for visitors to appreciate each year — from her fledgling attempts to create within Orchard House itself, to serious study in Boston, and eventuating in diligent practice and notable exhibitions in Europe. In honor of the Concord Free Public Library’s Sesquicentennial, Orchard House will highlight May Alcott’s presence in and influence on Orchard House, as well as her greater artistic achievements, through 15 October 2023.
The eclectic variety of May’s artwork typically on display will be enhanced by many rarely-seen items that reflect the boldly experimental style of this young, energetic artist, providing a truly visceral treat. Be enlightened by, impressed with, and astonished at May’s talent, and come away with a greater appreciation for this gifted artist whose life, joie de vivre, and legacy continue to uplift and enrich us.
Orchard House is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM.
