Thoreau’s “Wild Apples” & Apple Cidering in New England
September 28, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Free
To honor the harvest season and Thoreau’s essay “Wild Apples,” we will host Public Historians Richard Smith and Dennis Picard for an apple-centric event! Smith will introduce us to Thoreau’s essay on the beauty, flavor and lore of everyone’s favorite fall treat, while Picard will educate us on traditional apple cidering in New England. This program is recommended for ages 8 and up. This program is ADA accessible.
*All events are free and open to the public. Parking fees apply year-round at Walden unless noted otherwise. For visitor safety and protection of the resource, Walden Pond State Reservation closes to new all entries when the parking lot reaches capacity. Programs will run for visitors already in the park. To find out if we are open or have a closure, please visit DCR Park Alerts. Accommodations for ADA upon prior request.
