Join us for a slow and easy, comfortable and extraordinarily scenic, two mile walk to the summit of Rollstone Hill. The story and history of the Rollstone Boulder, the quarries, and several other interesting sites along the way will be explored, and the historical and cultural influence these landmarks had on the cities character will be discussed.
The starting point for the Rollstone Hill “Rock Walk” will be the Boulder Art Gallery, 960 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA. We will be gathering inside the Gallery for introductions and some quick instructions. There is plenty of on and off street parking in the area.
The walk will start at 10:00am and end at 1:00pm. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water, a friend, and your phone to take pics!
This program is offered by the Boulder Art Gallery and Fitchburg Greenway Committee as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature, Culture & History, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places, objects, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area.
