Hear ye, hear ye! Experience Paul Revere-inspired poems, Arlington’s revolutionary history, and Cyrus Dallin’s 57-year monument battle, brought to life by Arlington locals!
This free, family-friendly program will feature live readings of the Dallin Museum’s two favorite Paul Revere-themed poems – one authored by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and the other by Cyrus Dallin himself. Learn about the Battle of Menotomy and imagine what it was like on that tumultuous day in 1775. Then, hear the harrowing story of Dallin’s battle to complete his famous monument to Paul Revere in Boston’s North End.
Following the program, view the Dallin Museum’s newest addition – an extremely rare prototype of the Paul Revere Monument. This master plaster represents Dallin’s sixth design for the monument. He created the statue in 1930 in an attempt to revive the project, which had been stalled since he unveiled his fifth version in 1899. For the first time ever, visitors can experience Dallin’s fifth and sixth models side by side! Then head over to Arlington Town Hall to greet the National Lancers!
