Join for a solemn ceremony with the British Consul-General as we honor both American and British soldiers of the Revolution resting in Lincoln’s Old Burying Ground.

Old Burial Ground Tribute:
Eleven Lincoln Patriots of the Revolution and five British soldiers are buried in the oldest of Lincoln’s three burial grounds. An annual commemorative ceremony by the Lincoln Minute Men has been conducted at their graves for more than fifty years.

The Company assembles with a contingent of British soldiers and invited dignitaries at Pierce House, and with fifes, drums, and bagpipes playing, we march across fields and along historic paths to the burial ground, where we enter with muffled drums and fifes playing a Revolutionary funeral march. They are joined for the ceremony by a representative from the British Consulate in Boston. LMM members present dramatic narratives; soldiers provide commemorative volleys; musicians play solemn laments. Two children assist the LMM Captain in placing flags at Patriots’ graves. British soldiers and the British Consulate’s representative place a wreath at the British monument.

After the ceremony, The Lincoln Minute Men march back to Pierce House for refreshments.
