Taverns and inns played a critical role in colonial life. Just down the street, the Black Horse Tavern was the location where The Committee of Safety, a colonial organization that resisted British rule, met on April 18th, 1775, the day before the British Regulars pillaged and set fire to many buildings in Menotomy (present-day Arlington) on their retreat from Concord.
Today, Arlington is again home to wonderful taverns, restaurants, and gastropubs townwide. These include the Menotomy Grill & Tavern, and Arlington Brewing Company to host a special, festive Beer Hall in Robbins Memorial Town Hall this Patriot’s Day weekend! Huzzah!
