The Lexington Farmers’ Market connects residents with local farmers and vendors, providing greater access to fresh, locally-grown and -produced food to community members of all income levels. The LFM educates people about healthy eating, nutrition and sustainable agriculture, and provides a social experience that builds community.
The LFM is a producer-only market, meaning that all products sold by LFM farmers, vendors and artisans are locally-grown, locally-sourced or locally crafted, with limited exceptions. We do this by visiting farms, going to see where vendors produce their foods, and testing out products. The LFM’s goal is to provide a healthy and vibrant mix of items representing the best in local farming and food.
The Lexington Farmers’ Market was founded in 2005 by three committed local residents. Since then, the LFM has expanded and now holds three distinct markets throughout the year: the weekly summer farmers’ market from the end of May-end of October, a Thanksgiving FEASTival the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and the biweekly Small Yet Mighty Winter Market January through April.
