Forest Forensics Guided Walk in the Middlesex Fells

Learn how to “read” the forested landscape with environmental archaeologist, Dr. Naomi Riddiford, on a slow-paced nature walk at Quarter Mile Pond in Medford, MA, in the Middlesex Fells Reservation. We will search for clues to past events that have influenced the landscape around us, spanning the last Ice Age to the most recent winter storms. We will also consider natural history and people’s role in environmental change.
This is an outdoor program. Please dress for the conditions. Steady rain or lightning cancels. Rain dates are provided.
Children aged 12+ welcome if accompanied by a registered adult.

ACCESS: Moderate difficulty, including some rocky inclines and uneven surfaces. As such, this venue is unfortunately inaccessible to those with mobility limitations.
