Boxborough’s Historic 18th Century Steele Farm – Self-Guided Tours

05.12.25 - 05.18.25

Free

We invite the community to come and enjoy the scenic vista of the farm. Bring your dog, on or off leash, and walk over 4 miles of trails.

Steele Farm is a thirty-six-acre historic New England farmscape. This relatively open and expansive landscape provides the community with commanding views, historic structures, recreational opportunities, and wildlife habitat for many species. Steele Farm is permanently protected under a Historic and Conservation Restriction, and is registered with the National Registry of Historic Places. There are three buildings on the property: The 1784 Levi Wetherbee farmhouse; the circa 1904 Richardson ice house, and the early 1940’s Steele barn. No registration is necessary and activities will go on rain or shine.

DATE: Monday, May 12th through Sunday, May 18th

TIME: Dawn to dusk

LOCATION: Steele Farm, 484 Middle Rd, Boxborough, MA 01719

ACCESSIBILITY: The parking lot is partly dirt and gravel. The trails are not accessible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: On Sunday May 18th, from 2-4 pm we will host an open house where volunteers will be on-hand for questions about Steele Farm. The barn and ice house will be open for self-tours and visitors will be able to see inside the farmhouse, but won’t be able to go in.

This program is offered by the Steele Farm Advisory Committee and Boxborough Historical Society as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature, Culture & History, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places, objects, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. Hidden Treasures programs are free and open to the public. Click to discover more Hidden Treasures!
