GREAT MEADOWS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, CONCORD, MA
Sterling, Massachusetts was visited by Lafayette on September 3, 1824. At 10:00 to 11:00 am the 200th Anniversary Bicentennial celebration Lafayette will arrive in Sterling at the Sterling Memorial Park, located off Route 12 on Cross Street directly behind the Sterling Fire Department Headquarters.
Follow and look for the American and French flags guiding you to the event area. Lafayette will arrive by horse, with four wheels, and be greeted at the evergreen and floral Archway, along with the ringing of the church bells. Isaac Goodwin, Esq., Town select board chair of 1824 will greet General Lafayette with the actual speech as presented in 1824 and Lafayette will respond with his 200-year-old speech.
