GREAT MEADOWS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, CONCORD, MA
It was 200 years ago that renowned General Marquis de Lafayette toured the United States. Town after town welcomed him as a hero for his support of the United States during the Revolutionary War.
Lancaster was one of the stops along the tour and our residents welcomed him with great enthusiasm. On September 3, First Church is happy to host a reenactment of the 1824 tour on its 200th anniversary.
The Rev. Wil Darcangelo will read Rev. Nathaniel Thayer’s original welcoming address. Then General Lafayette will recite his speech from the same date 200 years ago before moving on to their next location.
This tour is sponsored by The American Friends of Lafayette.
