Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area, in partnership with Minute Man National Historical Park, is seeking an intern for an approximately 3-month period during the 2024 season.
The intern will assist in the dissemination of new research relating to the historical lives of enslaved and free people of African descent at Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, Massachusetts.
They will collaborate with members of the Park’s Resource Management team to develop social media content and public outreach materials to be featured on the Park’s Facebook page and website. Tasks will include researching 18th and 19th century material culture recovered archaeologically, examining historical documents, designing infographics, and writing compelling and accessible content.
The internship includes opportunities to learn about National Heritage Areas while working with Minute Man’s interpretive program and to serve visitors through training in formal and informal interpretation, special events and visitor center operations.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment as a graduate or undergraduate student or possess a degree, experience, and/or demonstrated interest in archives, public history, cultural archaeology, cultural resource management, museum studies, or a related discipline
- Interest or experience in American history or literature
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
- Skills related to social media
Start Date:
End of May/Beginning of June extending throughout the summer with an ending date to be determined.
Compensation:
The internship is offered at $30.00 per hour for between 30 – 40 hours per week for up to 14 weeks with an upset figure not to exceed $18,000.
A stipend of up to $1,400 for transit is available.
