Join historian and expert ice harvester Dennis Picard at the Walden Pond Visitor Center for a program on the 19th-century ice industry. See antique tools of the trade, like those used at Walden Pond to harvest 180 tons of ice during Thoreau’s stay in 1846. All ages.
The program is free however, parking fees apply all year round. Use the pay and display machines in each lot to purchase ($8 MA license plates, $15 out-of-state). Display voucher on dashboard or hang valid MA state park passes from rear-view mirror.
