Acton’s Woodlawn Cemetery

104 Concord Road, Acton, MA

The 87.75-acre Woodlawn Cemetery is situated about halfway between the communities of Acton Center and East Acton. The largest of the three municipally owned and operated cemeteries in Acton, it was founded in 1738. It remains open for burials today, making it a unique time capsule of cemetery practices dating back to the colonial era.

At least 23 Revolutionary War Patriots are interred in this cemetery. Their names include:

Moses Adams • Joseph Barker Jr. • Seth Brooks • Isaac Davis • John Edwards • Oliver Emerson • Francis Faulkner • Daniel Fletcher • David Forbush/Furbush Jr. • David Furbush Sr. • Josiah Hayward • Samuel Hayward Sr. • Jonathan Hosmer • Samuel Hosmer • Stephen Hosmer • Simon Hunt • Stephen Law • Joseph Piper • William Reed III • Joseph Robbins • Solomon Smith • Samuel Wheeler

This list was compiled from the SAR Patriot Research System. While our own research has identified discrepancies between various resources, we welcome your feedback should you notice something that should be revised.
