Open House

01.20.24 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Did we really have a Town Moderator who was jailed by the Patriots (not the football team)? Is it true that a local scuba diver would cut a hole in the ice at Lake Potanipo, go down to the bottom and dig through the mud with his hands for artifacts? What’s this I hear about a Brookline cannon that disappeared after it blew off a man’s arm the day after the town’s centennial celebration in 1869? Is it true that our 1700’s town meeting house mysteriously burned down one night in 1915? What’s the story of the beloved and iconic Florence Barnaby? Do you mean to tell me that Brookline once had train service, a ski hill, multiple grocery stores, a motor speedway, a town hearse and that Lake Potanipo ice was sold in Boston?

On January 20, 9 AM to 2 PM, the Brookline Historical Society at 17 Meetinghouse Hill Road will hold an open house for the public. Refreshments will be served. Come and tour the BHS’s Barnaby House and barn. Learn about our town’s colorful heritage.
