The Lancaster Historical Society will make tours by appointment available of the collections of “Herbert H. Hosmer Jr.: A Lancastrian Original” through August 31, 2023. The Exhibit Room is on the second floor of the Prescott Building at 701 Main Street in Lancaster. (Use rear entrance.)

Born in Lancaster, MA, Hosmer lived the majority of his life in his hometown. In addition to a teaching career in the local public school system, he was an enthusiastic historian, a talented folk artist, “Master Puppeteer” and avid collector of antique juvenile books, paper dolls, dollhouses, games and other items relating to the joys of childhood. Along with presenting puppet shows for many decades, he also operated a specially designed museum to house his treasures on his George Hill Road property. This exhibit highlights a sampling of his many collections.
