Celebrating 100 Years of the Shattuck School Building

May 13, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Join us for a birthday party celebrating the Shattuck Street Building. It opened as a school for classes in 1923 and soon became Littleton‘s only school building for the growing town. It was enlarged in 1938 and again in 1952. This building has served Littleton well, as a school and more recently the library and town offices. As we move toward the possible re-imagining of the building, we salute this Hidden Treasure of Littleton that has served our town so well and holds many memories for generations of Littletonians. Celebrating its 100th year seems appropriate amid the changes in the landscape of our town.

Cake will be served on the front lawn from 11-1pm with displays showing the history of the building. We will learn, reminisce, and, hopefully, come to appreciate this historic brick building. (Cake will be served until it runs out!)

This program is offered by the Littleton Historical Society as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature, Culture & History, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places, objects, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. Hidden Treasures programs are free and open to the public. Click to discover more Hidden Treasures!
