While Field O’Dreams Farm was officially founded in 2014, its owners have been tending livestock and farmland since 1972. Shawn and Joanne MacEachern purchased 7.5-acres of the former beef farm in 2010.
Shawn, a mechanical engineer, grew up on a small family farm that produced Black Angus, chickens, blueberries, and vegetables. Joanne had a long history of raising Shetland Sheepdogs and livestock. Upon purchasing the Amherst, New Hampshire farm, the MacEachern’s obtained a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats for milking. They soon added beef cows, chickens, maple syrup, honey, and vegetables to the mix.
Field O’Dreams Farm sells its products through local stores and farmers’ markets. They also sell food directly to customers seven days a week from their farmstand on Boston Post Road in Amherst. Customers are also invited to tour the farm and visit the animals.
