Management Plan

Freedom’s Way Heritage Association invites all local citizens and their representatives to participate in the preparation of a management plan for the area. The Association will conduct open public meetings and seek input throughout the process through this website. The purpose of the heritage designation is to manage, preserve, protect, and interpret the cultural, historic, and natural resources of the Heritage Area for the educational and inspirational benefit of future generations.
Freedom’s Way Heritage Association is designated by law as the local coordinating entity whose duties are to further the purposes of the Heritage Area. Those duties include:

  1. The preparation of a management plan for the Heritage Area;
  2. To assist units of local government, regional planning organizations, and non-profit organizations in implementing the management plan by --
    • Carrying out programs to protect important Heritage Area resources;
    • Establishing and maintaining interpretive exhibits and programs;
    • Developing recreational and educational opportunities;
    • Increasing public awareness appreciation of the Area’s resources;
    • Protecting Area historic sites that are consistent with the heritage themes; and
    • Ensuring that signs identifying points of public access and sites of interest are posted.
